New Features & Additions to the 2018 Honda CR-V
Honda’s compact crossover was all-new for the previous model year, so the 2018 Honda CR-V carries over unchanged from last year. It will continue to be offered in four different trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The 2018 Honda CR-V Touring trim is the top of the line model and includes premium amenities like leather trimmed seating, hands-free power tailgate, navigation system and many other features.
One feature that is standard across all trim levels of the 2018 Honda CR-V is the Honda Sensing package. This suite of driver assistance features includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS™), Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System. With standard features like these, we expect the 2018 Honda CR-V to remain one of Honda’s top-selling models and the clear leader in the compact crossover segment.
The Honda CR-V History
The first Honda CR-V came out in Japan in 1996, and crossed the Pacific Ocean to North America in 1997. It was a five-passenger vehicle and was strictly a 4WD with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine giving 126 hp. The 1998 Honda CR-V offered a 2WD model. Horsepower increased in 1999 to 146. The newly designed 2002 model introduced an i-VTEC engine and larger cargo area. Again in 2005 the CR-V got a bit of a facelift with new headlights and standard 16-inch wheels. The liftgate was added in 2007 along with a five-speed automatic transmission. The year 2010 saw more changes in a new grille, an increase in horsepower to 180, and a more aerodynamic design.
