What's New in the 2022 Honda CR-V?
The 2022 Honda offers an accumulation of all the upgrades Honda has issued since the current generation began in 2017. That redesign introduced a reimagined compact SUV with excellent fuel efficiency, a roomy cabin for passengers in the front row and the back, plus ample space for their cargo. More recent upgrades include the addition of the Honda Sensing tech suite, which has equipped the CR-V with an array of modern driver assistance and safety systems like forward automatic emergency braking and road departure mitigation. A hybrid variation is also available for enhanced mileage, while the standard turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generates 190 horsepower for a smooth, comfortable ride.
The Honda CR-V History
The first Honda CR-V came out in Japan in 1996, and crossed the Pacific Ocean to North America in 1997. It was a five-passenger vehicle and was strictly a 4WD with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine giving 126 hp. The 1998 Honda CR-V offered a 2WD model. Horsepower increased in 1999 to 146. The newly designed 2002 model introduced an i-VTEC engine and larger cargo area. Again in 2005 the CR-V got a bit of a facelift with new headlights and standard 16-inch wheels. The liftgate was added in 2007 along with a five-speed automatic transmission. The year 2010 saw more changes in a new grille, an increase in horsepower to 180, and a more aerodynamic design.
