What's New in the 2020 Honda CR-V?

Honda has updated the 2020 CR-V with an exciting mid-generation refresh that includes athletic, modern styling with all-new fascias and a more prominent grill. The interior of the CR-V also was updated in the refresh as well, especially the center console, which is now more user-friendly, and the infotainment options, which have been expanded for 2020. The CR-V continues to be impressively roomy inside, and trimmed with high-quality materials. Even more than the mid-generation refresh, Honda has also introduced a new hybrid powertrain for the CR-V, which has been the topic of a lot of buzz in the crossover class.  The new Hybrid CR-V will run on a 212-horsepower 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder, which will make it wickedly powerful and fuel-efficient in one. Excitingly, all trim levels of the CR-V now come standard with the Honda Sensing® safety suite, so each drive is as safe as can be.

The Honda CR-V History

The first Honda CR-V came out in Japan in 1996, and crossed the Pacific Ocean to North America in 1997. It was a five-passenger vehicle and was strictly a 4WD with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine giving 126 hp. The 1998 Honda CR-V offered a 2WD model. Horsepower increased in 1999 to 146. The newly designed 2002 model introduced an i-VTEC engine and larger cargo area. Again in 2005 the CR-V got a bit of a facelift with new headlights and standard 16-inch wheels. The liftgate was added in 2007 along with a five-speed automatic transmission. The year 2010 saw more changes in a new grille, an increase in horsepower to 180, and a more aerodynamic design.
