What's New in the 2023 Honda CR-V?

Sleekly refined on the inside and thoroughly modern on the outside, the redesigned 2023 Honda CR-V ticks all of the boxes for those in the market for a compact SUV. There's an updated touchscreen infotainment system that keeps the CR-V at the leading edge of tech expectations, and the roomier cabin has more than enough space to fit five adults without feeling cramped. Buyers interested in reducing their carbon footprint can take advantage of the CR-V's 204-horsepower hybrid engine, part of a powertrain strong enough to tow 1,000 pounds when properly equipped.

The Honda CR-V History

The first Honda CR-V came out in Japan in 1996, and crossed the Pacific Ocean to North America in 1997. It was a five-passenger vehicle and was strictly a 4WD with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine giving 126 hp. The 1998 Honda CR-V offered a 2WD model. Horsepower increased in 1999 to 146. The newly designed 2002 model introduced an i-VTEC engine and larger cargo area. Again in 2005 the CR-V got a bit of a facelift with new headlights and standard 16-inch wheels. The liftgate was added in 2007 along with a five-speed automatic transmission. The year 2010 saw more changes in a new grille, an increase in horsepower to 180, and a more aerodynamic design.
