What's New in the 2023 Honda HR-V?

The 2023 Honda HR-V is an all-new model that uses the same platform as the 11th-generation Civic. The front fascia sports a new compact grille with air inlets on either side that route air through the bumper, engine bay, and wheels for better cooling and aerodynamic efficiency. It has LED headlights, a tailgate spoiler, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin of the 2023 Honda HR-V minimizes driver distraction by reducing the cutlines on the dashboard, so there are no windshield reflections during the drive. It has premium, soft-touch materials, and the center console upholstery has French stitching.

Front passengers use Honda's new body stabilizing seats that reduce fatigue, while the third-row seats are wide, so it fits three passengers comfortably.

A 7-inch color touch-screen infotainment display is standard, and it comes with Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and Bluetooth® connectivity. Higher variants get the 9-inch color touch screen. Honda adds a physical volume button, so it is easier to adjust the sound when needed.

The History of the Honda HR-V

The Honda HR-V started as a B-segment subcompact crossover SUV before becoming the compact SUV we all know in America. The first model was based on the Honda Logo minicar that was popular in Japan between 1996-2001.

The second-generation HR-V debuted in North America in 2015 as a 2016 model after appearing at the 2014 New York International Auto Show as a concept vehicle. Models sold in the USA were made in Mexico and are available in five trims, the LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring.

The latest iteration of the HR-V now has two versions, the global trim with the vehicle code RV and the North American variant code-named RZ. The RZ was introduced early in 2022 and is a much larger HR-V model and will run parallel to Honda's CR-V. The Japanese automaker claims that its design and function meet the specific needs of U.S. customers.

The 2023 Honda has a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. Drive goes to the front- or four-wheel-drive layout using a continuously variable transmission. It features a three-mode drive system, an Eco Assist™ System, Active Noise Cancellation™, hill descent control, hill start assist, and a direct ignition system with an immobilizer.
